Permanent hair removal – IPL, SHR & laser technology

In addition to conventional shaving, there are already a variety of other options, such as sugaring, waxing or epilation, to tame hair growth. However, the major disadvantage remains: None of these methods provide anywhere near permanent results, although they are both time-consuming and painful. This is no longer in keeping with the times since permanent treatment options have become available!

The term permanent hair removal is generally understood to mean a significant reduction of body hair in the treatment area for a period that exceeds one hair cycle.

The various systems for permanent hair removal, such as IPL (e.g. the Toplite Cosmetic Systems Xenia Plus RF), SHR (e.g. the Toplite Cosmetic Systems Xenia SHR e-motion) and laser (e.g. the Toplite Cosmetic Systems X-Laser NXT & 4 MAX) are all based on the principle of selective photothermolysis. This utilizes the ability of the pigments in the hair to convert light into heat. Depending on the system, the heat attacks different structures of the hair that are responsible for its reproduction and thus prevents the future production of new hair. As hair growth is subject to a fixed cycle, around 6 to 12 treatments are required for a permanent result, depending on the technology used.

One hundred percent permanent depilation is highly dependent on the method used, the expertise of the practitioner and the individual body characteristics of the client. For example, certain medications or hormones can artificially stimulate hair growth and thus falsify the result. Therefore, no one hundred percent guarantee can be given. However, according to current knowledge and technical standards, a depilation rate of 80 % – 90 % is generally achieved.
